KENNESAW, Ga. - A six-run third inning proved to be the difference as Kennesaw State baseball fell to No. 20 West Virginia, 12-4, Friday afternoon at Mickey Dunn Stadium at Henssler Financial Field.

JT Gibson and Davis Harper provided effective relief for KSU (4-4), combining to allow just two unearned runs across 5.2 innings. The duo walked two and struck out six Mountaineers, including the first two strikeouts of Harper's collegiate career.

Offensively, seven different Owls recorded hits in the loss, including Jamarie Brooks and Jackson Bradfield, who each lifted their first homers of 2026.

How it Happened

  • T3 | West Virginia led off the inning with a first-pitch home run to open the scoring before later loading the bases and recording four consecutive hits to score six runs in the frame (6-0, West Virginia)
  • T6 | The Mountaineers again loaded the bases and scored runs on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single (8-0, WVU).
  • B7 | Jackson Bradfield hit his first home run of the season, sending a solo shot to right field to put the Owls on the board (8-1, WVU).
  • T8 | West Virginia added four runs to extend its advantage (12-1, WVU).
  • B8 | A leadoff double by Aaron Posey and single by Evan Holstein put runners on the corners, before Jamarie Brooks crushed a three-run homer to left-center field (12-4, WVU).

Notes from the Diamond

  • Friday marked Kennesaw State's first loss at Mickey Dunn Stadium at Henssler Financial Field and snapped a Division I-era program-record 13-game home winning streak
  • Jackson Bradfield and Jamarie Brooks each launched their first homers of the season.
  • Wesley Alig and Grayson McCollum each extended their on-base streaks to eight games, while James McGee has reached base in six consecutive appearances
