Gage Voyles Music City Challenge

Voyles Wins High Jump With Personal Best to Lead Owls at Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gage Voyles won the invite high jump with a personal-best leap of 2.13m (6'11.75") to highlight Kennesaw State track and field's first day at the Music City Challenge.

Voyles' victory was his second of his freshman season and pushed him .01m ahead of teammate Kenyatta Bennet for the Conference USA lead.


Men's Recap
Gavin Horton and Simon Seid both cleared 5.02m (16'5.5") in the pole vault, finishing fourth and sixth on attempts, respectively.

Noah Jirgens continued his strong indoor season with a season-best toss of 20.13m (66'0.5") to place fourth in the weight throw invite on his second-to-last throw of the day.

Collins Kipekemboi posted a time of 4:08.46 to place 23rd in the mile. That time ranks second in program history.

Kenyatta Bennett cleared the bar at 2.08m (6'9.75") to place third in the invite shot put.

KSU will have four men in Saturday's 60m hurdle semifinal. Josh Jones (8.00 seconds), Cameron Guadiano (8.04 seconds), Darris Roberts (8.43 seconds) and Ian Tukes (8.77 seconds) all advanced. 


Women's Recap
Myesha Hall took second in the long jump with a leap of 6.07m (19'11").

The Owls will have four athletes in Saturday's 60m semifinal as Tickia Sutton (8.51 seconds), Natalie Harris (8.55 seconds) and Madison Maxey (8.65 seconds) and Hannah Cheek (8.69 seconds) all advanced out of the first round.

Ebony Whyte ran a time of 7.58 seconds to advance to the 60m semifinal.


The Owls will conclude competition at the Commodore Classic on Saturday, Feb. 14.
