KENNESAW, Ga. — After winning two of three matches a week ago, Kennesaw State men's tennis looks to continue momentum with matches at Chattanooga Feb. 13 and versus North Alabama Feb. 14.
DEFEATING SAMFORD & GEORGIA STATE
KSU took advantage of home court last week with a pair of 5-2 wins over Samford and Georgia State. Samford began the match winning the doubles point before the Owls responded to win five of six singles matches, including three in straight sets. KSU stumbled in doubles against Georgia State but won five singles matches for its first-ever win over the Panthers.
STRENGTH IN SINGLES
The Owls are a combined 16-11 in singles matches this season, led by
Ben Hudson's 3-1 record in No. 1 singles,
Dominic Ducarius's 3-1 on court four and
Nathan Walters' 4-1 on five.
Hudson went 3-0 on line one last week, with each win coming in straight sets. Ducariu and Walters' singles' success comes just five matches into their collegiate careers for the freshmen from Frankfurt, Germany, and Cirona, Spain, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY
KSU and Chattanooga meet for the sixth time on Friday, with the Owls leading the series 3-2, including wins in the last four straight. The Owls' match with North Alabama is the series' fifth installment. KSU leads that series as well, 3-1.
KNOW THE FOE
Chattanooga is looking for its first win of the season after opening with losses to Gardner-Webb (2-5) and Georgia Southern (1-6). The Mocs finished fourth in the SoCon in 2025 with a 15-11 (4-3) record.
North Alabama opened the season losing four straight matches, including to Ole Miss and No. 6 Ohio State. The Lions have since taken matches from Jackson State and Lamar. UNA is one of five 2025 NCAA Tournament teams on KSU's schedule this season. The Lions went 19-4 (8-0) and won the ASUN before falling to No. 22 Michigan State in the first round of last year's NCAA Tournament.
