Osbolt Selected by Cincinnati Reds in Sixth Round

7/14/2025 1:40:00 PM

FORT WORTH, Texas – Kennesaw State pitcher Braden Osbolt was selected 174th overall in the sixth round of the 2025 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft Monday afternoon by the Cincinnati Reds.

Osbolt's selection marks the 17th-consecutive year an Owl has been drafted, not counting the shortened 2020 MLB Draft.

His junior campaign was cut short due to injury, but he made his mark on the hill throughout his Owl career. He garnered an All-Atlantic Sun Third Team spot in 2024 after posting a 5-2 record, 4.48 ERA, 51 strikeouts in his 70.1 innings of work.

On February 14, Osbolt tossed 5.2 scoreless innings with five punchouts versus Big 10 opponents Rutgers in the 5-3 win to open the season.

The righty posted a career ERA of 4.50 with 108 strikeouts in 154 innings and seven wins. He is the fourth Owl drafted since Ryan Coe became head coach at KSU before the 2022 campaign. He was ranked 86th in D1Baseball's Top 150 College MLB Draft Prospects list released in the fall of '24.

The Molena, Ga. native is the 75th draft pick in program history.

The Owls are fresh off a third-place finish in their inaugural season in Conference USA as they registered a 17-9 league record.
