Cross Named Conference USA Male Track Athlete of the Year

DALLAS – Chance Cross was named Conference USA Male Track Athlete of the Year, the league announced Wednesday.
  
Cross earned Second Team All-American honors with an 11th place finish in the 100m at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships last week. He finished his junior season with five of the fastest recorded times in program history in the 100m. He set the wind-aided (10.01 seconds) and non-wind aided (10.09 seconds) school records in the 100m. His time of 10.01 seconds ranked tops in CUSA, tied for fourth in the NCAA East Region and tied for 11th in the NCAA this season. He secured the gold medal with a time of 10.12 seconds at the CUSA Outdoor Championships. He also ran a leg on the Owls 4x100m team that finished second at CUSA Championships and 13th at NCAA East First Rounds. Cross and the Owls 4x100m team posted two of the fastest times in program history in their final two races of the season.
 
Indoors, Cross won the 60m at the Clemson Opener with a time of 6.68 seconds.  At the CUSA Championships, he won the 60m with a personal-best time of 6.61 seconds which established a new school record in the event.
