KENNESAW, Ga. – A steady force behind the plate, junior Macie Howes has been named Second Team All-Conference USA, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Over 51 starts of the team's 53 games, she collected 33 hits, including six doubles and three home runs and driving in nine runs. Her disciplined eye at the plate added 16 walks to her stat line, boosting her on-base percentage to .327 while slugging .358.
One of the defining moments of her season came in the Middle Tennessee series, when Howes turned heads with an inside-the-park home run, after capitalizing on a key defensive lapse.
Behind the plate is what placed her among the league's best, ranking second in CUSA with 12 runners caught stealing and ninth with 259 putouts.
