CARLSBAD, Calif – Claes Borregaard carded a round of 1-over par 73 and is tied for 47
th after the opening round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships Friday at the North Course at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.
Borregaard made six birdies and seven pars during his round. He birdied four of the first six holes of the day. The senior played his first nine holes of the day at 2-under par 34. His six birdies are tied for second most in the field.
Borregaard will tee off in round two of the NCAA Men's Golf Championship on Saturday, May 24
th at 5:02 pm ET.
Championship Format
All 30 teams and six individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play. Following 54 holes of competition, the top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will advance for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match-play competition and the 72-hole stroke-play individual champion.
