CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte 49ers (23-17, 9-6 AAC) restricted the Kennesaw State (20-20, 10-5 CUSA) offense Tuesday night on the road in the 7-0 defeat.
How It Happened
After allowing a lead-off single,
Smith Pinson punched out the side in the first inning.
A solo jack to right field marked the first run of the game for Charlotte in the bottom of the third inning.
The 49ers then clobbered consecutive solo home runs to left and right field, taking a three-run lead in the fourth inning.
Charlotte tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, creating a 7-0 game.
The Owl offense was stunted in the 7-0 loss in Charlotte.
Spotlight Performances
- Pinson was dominant in the opening inning, earning three strikeouts while allowing just one hit.
- Four of the Owls pitchers recorded scoreless outings while the staff compiled 12 punchouts in the evening.
- Nate Anderson nabbed a single and stolen base.
