Anderson Secures Program's First Conference USA Player of the Week

4/14/2025 10:21:00 AM

DALLAS - Nate Anderson was awarded Kennesaw State's first Conference USA Player of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. The redshirt senior was pivotal in the Owl's first CUSA series sweep as he compiled a .462 batting average accompanied by a grand slam in game three versus the Bearkats.

The outfielder nabbed a whopping 1.611 On-base plus slugging % with an even 1.000 Slugging % and a .611 on-base %. Anderson tallied 13 total bases on the backs of two doubles, a triple, a home run and five walks/hit by pitches. He is the first Owl this season to notch a four-hit and four-run performance in the same game (April 12). His impact was not only felt with the bat but also with his feet as he was a perfect three-for-three in stolen bases.

The series sweep over Sam Houston was the first Conference USA series sweep in program history and the first three-game winning streak of the season. The sweep was the first time in over three years that the Black and Gold had swept a conference opponent on the road (Stetson - April 10, 2022). Saturday's 10-0 victory signified KSU's first shutout in CUSA and the first road shutout since March 3, 2020 in the 3-0 win over Jax State.

Over the weekend, the Owl offense exploded for 36 runs. In game three, the Owls tied the Division-I single-game home run record by hitting five big flies, tying the record set versus Belmont on April 1, 2010. Anderson's grand slam was the second of a three home run inning, marking the second time in DI program history the feat has been accomplished. The previous occurrence was April 11, 2011, when Ronnie Freeman, Andy Chriscaden and Peyton Hart hit three consecutive homers to begin the game.
