CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A strong 7-under par round of 273 vaulted the KSU men's golf team into the lead after 36 holes at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at the UNC Finley Course Saturday.
KSU carded rounds of 284-273 for a 3-under par total of 557 on the par-70 course. The Owls are the only team under par and lead by four shots over No. 9 North Carolina.
Kyle Bachkosky posted rounds of 68-69 for a 3-under par total of 137. The junior is in second place after making 27 pars and six birdies through the first two rounds. He and
Claes Borregaard lead the field in Par-3 scoring average at 2.80.
Claes Borregaard and
Hunter Gillard are tied for fourth at 1-under par 139. Borregaard opened with a 3-over par 73 and closed with a 4-under par 66 while making 22 pars and nine birdies. Gillard opened the day with a 2-over 72 and closed it with a 3-under 67.
Shaun Cook is tied for 28
th at 4-over par 144 after rounds of 71-73.
Luca Gallingani (75-71) is tied for 39
th at 6-over par 139.
As a team, KSU leads the field in Par 3 and Par 4 scoring averages along with total pars (122). KSU is second in the field with 31 birdies.
The Owls will close out the regular season with the final round of the Tar Heel Intercollegiate on Sunday, Apr. 13.
