Nagayo, Kim Lead Owls to Fourth Place on Day 1 at Pinetree CC

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's golf roared out of the gates to place third after  the first round and sit fourth after the second round at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate on Monday.
 
After being delayed 20 minutes in the morning due to rain, the Owls posted a 292-288 score (12-over par) through two rounds and just three strokes out of second place (Notre Dame, South Alabama) and six strokes out of first (Texas Tech).
 
Scorecard
 
Alessandra Nagayo finished the day as team leader, posting a 1-over par 72 for Round 1 with three birdies and 12 pars. She then largely played par golf in Round 2 before finishing strong with three birdies in the final five holes to post a 1-under 70 and an even par finish on the first day, sitting tied for fourth individually.  
Close behind her was Sabrina Kim, who had a sensational start to the Owls' home tournament, firing in a 1-under par 70 to open Round 1 and birdying four holes on the front nine. She then carded a 2-over 73 to finish the first day 1-over par and tied for seventh individually.  
After a tough start to Round 1, Nyah Kelly birdied two of the final three holes to finish 5-over in Round 1 and gain momentum that sent her to an even-par 71 for Round 2. She birdied the first hole and then three out of four from 9-12. Her even par Round 2 catapulted her 22 spots to sit 5-over individually in 17th place.
 
Also faced with a tough start, facing a 6-over score in the front nine of Round 1, Jackie Jang then rattled off a whopping four-straight birdies before also birdying 16 to finish 3-over par for the round. She was then able to card the same in Round 2 to sit in 23rd place at 6-over par individually.
 
Hannah Cheryl Alan rounded out the Owls' scorers, carding a 78-80 (16-over) to  sit in 61st place individually.
 
For Kennesaw State's individuals, Ladina Luder (48th) followed a tough-luck 8-over 79 in Round 1 with a fine 3-over 74 in Round 2, birding four holes from 7-15 without a bogey. Natasha Korman (59th) finished out the Owls' efforts on Monday with a 5-over 76 in Round 1 that saw her record three birdies on the front nine, followed by a 10-over 81 in Round 2.
 
Tee Time
 
Kennesaw State will be back out on Tuesday, March 25 for 18 holes in Round 3 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
