Wiliams and Suto Hit Homers: Owls Drop Sunday Finale

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Owls (5-8, 0-0 CUSA) split the four-game series with the Bulldogs (5-7, 0-0 SoCon) after completing Sunday's game with a 7-3 defeat.

Cooper Williams and Cam Suto accounted for all the Owl's runs via the home run. Williams sent out a two-run shot in the first and Suto a solo jack in the ninth inning.
 
How It Happened
Kennesaw State once again struck first, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Chris Cole started the game with a walk, advancing to second from the Wesley Alig sacrifice bunt.

Williams continued his tear in the Samford series as he skied a home run over the right field fence. His big fly gave the Owls a two-run lead in the beginning inning and marked his second home run in the series.

The Bulldogs scored one run in the bottom of the first on the back of a sacrifice fly, cutting the lead to one run for KSU.

Samford tied the game 2-2 as they posted their second run of the game in the third inning. The next batter, a lined single into right field scored a Bulldog from second base, taking the lead 3-2.

The fourth unanswered run from the hometown team came in the fourth inning as they tacked on another, making it 4-2. Samford continued to ride its momentum as they bolstered three runs in the sixth inning.

Suto demolished a solo home run in the ninth inning, showcasing the Owl's second home run of the game. KSU could not get enough offense going in the late innings, falling 7-3 to the Bulldogs.

Spotlight Performances
  • Williams clobbered his second home run of the season and capped off a monster series totaling nine RBI, two home runs and a .800 slugging percentage. 
  • Suto launched yet another no-doubt home run over the left field fence, marking his third bomb of the season.
  • Nate Helman was flawless in his eighth-inning relief appearance, racking up two strikeouts.
Next Up
Midweek action resumes for KSU as they will take on Georgia Tech Tuesday, March 4 at 4 p.m. as they go to The Flats.
