KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team defeated Sam Houston 5-2 on the Betty Seigel Courts Sunday.
KSU won the doubles point and four singles matches to secure the victory. The win marked KSU's first over a current Conference USA opponent.
"Definitely a tricky match today in not easy conditions, but we did a pretty good job of working through it, head coach
Matt Emery said. "This team has had a lot of adversity thrown at them this season and I couldn't be prouder of how we are competing. It goes without saying that it was great to get our first CUSA win in program history on our home courts today."
KSU won the doubles point with wins on courts one and two.
Ema Baraniakova and
Sofia Madrid raced to a 6-0 win on court one. Izabelle Perrson and
Sophia Unger collected a 6-2 win on court two.
The Owls got straight set wins from
Sophia Unger (7-5, 6-1) and
Izabelle Persson (7-5, 6-1).
Laura Nadaska clinched the win with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win on court five.
Ema Baraniakova (4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6)) picked up the final KSU point of the day.
