Owls Grit on Display in 5-2 Win Over Montana State

BOISE, IDAHO. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team defeated Montana State 5-2 at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday.

"We lost a tight 4-3 match to one of the best teams in the country about 13 hours before this match started, so a quick response was important this morning, associate head coach Simon Pritchard said. A couple injuries forced a few different guys to step into the lineup for us and made today a really gritty win for the Owls. This weekend has shown us that we have the talent to compete with any team in the nation, but that we also have the grit to get it done when we need to. Excited to get back on the court against UNCW and NJIT next week."

The Owls won the doubles point and four singles matches to clinch the victory.

KSU picked up the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Anthony Weingarten and Mikolaj Lis won 6-2 on court one and Hugo Salmeron and Kyvan Rietkerk got a 6-4 victory on court two.

Weingarten made quick work with a 6-4, 6-2 victory on court two. Kyvan Rietkerk got a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 to get the win. Sam Baldwin (7-5, 5-7, 10-6) got the win on court four. Xavi Ferrer picked up a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 victory on court five.
