ATLANTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team defeated Georgia State 5-2 on Thursday afternoon.
The win was KSU's fourth consecutive in the series between the two teams. The Owls had not beaten the Panthers prior to 2020.
KSU won the doubles point and four singles match to secure the victory.
"This was a good team effort today on the road against a good team that competes well," Director of Tennis
Matt Emery said. "Che and Terezia did a great job of closing at five and six singles, as well as closing out three doubles. Bella and Ema were lights out after losing tight first sets."
KSU clinched the doubles points with wins on courts one and three.
Ema Baraniakova and
Sofia Madrid got the Owls with a 6-2 win on court one.
Terezia Baraniakova and
Che Nel clinched the point for KSU with a 7-5 win on court three.
Che Nel gave KSU a 2-1 lead with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Pragnya Kumar on court five.
Terezia Baraniakova pushed the lead to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Sveva Bernardi.
Izabelle Persson clinched the victory with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over Sierra Sandy on court four. EMa Baraniakova dropped her opening set but rebounded to collect a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Sara Radejovic on court one.

KSU will host Western Carolina on Sunday, Mar. 2 at 1 p.m. It will be Epilepsy Awarness Day and the Owls will be wearing purple shirts and wristbands to honor those fighting the disease.
