ATLANTA – Volume scoring sent the Georgia State Panthers (6-1, 0-0 Sun Belt) past the Owls (3-6, 0-0 CUSA) in the Tuesday midweek face off with a 14-4 final.
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead scoring three runs in the first inning.
The Owls didn't take long to answer in the second inning.
Nate Anderson once again showed off his power, launching his third home run of the season to right field. The redshirt senior took the count full before roping the ball to deep right field, cementing a team-high eight RBI.
The second inning continued to be kind to Kennesaw State as
Chris Cole registered an RBI single to left field, scoring catcher
James McGee and bringing the game within one run.
The Panthers exploded in the bottom third inning for five runs, separating from the Owls 8-3.
KSU showed signs of life in the fifth inning with two runs scored off the bat of freshman
James McGee. The scoring began with
Kaden Brown reaching base and an Alig single, setting up McGee to lace a single into center field, cutting the hold to 8-4.
The Panthers added six more runs throughout the game ending with a 14-4 final via run rule.
Spotlight Performances
- Four Owls showcased multi-hit performances (Alig, Anderson, Cole, McGee).
- Freshman Anthony Clavet made his first appearance of his college career, appearing as a pinch hitter in the fifth inning. He played in the field at third base for the duration of the game.
- McGee earned his second career start.
- Payton Doyle made his first appearance as an Owl.
