KENNESAW, Ga. – Following their second straight one-possession victory against Tennessee Tech, Kennesaw State women's basketball will head to South Alabama to take on the Jaguars.
 
Sophomore Trynce Taylor hit the game-winning shot with 18 seconds left. She finished the afternoon with 17 points – her most since returning from her season-ending injury – and nine boards. Keyarah Berry had her ninth career 20-point game as well.
 
At 3-1, the Owls are off to their best start since the 2020-21 season.
 
Under third-year head coach Yolisha Jackson, the Jaguars are off to their best start since 2018 at 4-1. They have a balanced offense, with six players averaging at least seven points per game. In their most recent contest, South Alabama took down FAU at home, 70-63.
 
Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. on ESPN+.

After missing all of last year with a season-ending injury, redshirt sophomore Trynce Taylor has shined in her return. Against Tennessee Tech, she hit the game winner to take down the undefeated Golden Eagles. In that contest, she scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds. At ETSU, she corralled a career high 12 rebounds. Taylor is averaging 10.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game.
 
Tennessee Takeover
Tennessee native Latazia Williamson had a career day for the Owls in their win over ETSU. The junior popped off for 20 points, shattering her previous career high. In the third quarter alone, she posted 10 points including eight unanswered to close out the quarter.

Berry Nice
After being named to the CUSA Preseason Team, graduate guard Keyarah Berry is living up to the hype. She scored a career-high 25 points against FAU, with 21 of those coming in the second half. She is also contributing on the defensive end, recording three steals in four straight games. Berry currently ranks second in CUSA in scoring (18 points per game), third in steals (12) and fourth in field goal percentage (50.0%).
 
What a Debut
In her first game at KSU, Shania Nichols erupted for 20 points in 19 minutes of action against Shorter. She went 6-of-9 from behind the arc, 7-of-11 from the field overall. Her six three-pointers in the contest are tied for the most by a CUSA player this season.
 
Lockdown Defense
Effort has been a calling card of the Owls under head coach Octavia Blue. In their last game, KSU held NCAA tournament team Tennessee Tech to a 30.4 FG% and forced 19 turnovers. Among CUSA teams, KSU ranks second in scoring defense (57.0), second in opponent field goal percentage (35.5%) and fourth in turnover margin (+3.00).
