KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's basketball is giving back this holiday season. The Owls are proud to partner with PORCH Communities for the Friday, November 28 home game against USC Upstate, to help collect non-perishable food items to support the KSU CARES.
KSU women's basketball encourages fans to bring boxed or canned nonperishable food items to the game, where they will be collected at the gate as they enter VyStar Arena.
KSU CARES has a list of its most-wanted items, which can be found
here.
While our clear bag policy remains in effect, fans may bring canned goods in paper or plastic bags for this special event. Security personnel will inspect bags upon entry.
By teaming up with PORCH and KSU CARES, the Owls are helping raise awareness about food insecurity right here on campus and across our communities.
Donations will be given to KSU CARES, hand-delivered by KSU women's basketball student athletes.
"We are so excited to team up with KSU Women's Basketball to collect the most-needed food items for KSU CARES," PORCH Communities CEO and Founder Christine Cotton said! "At PORCH Communities, our mission is to mobilize neighbors to support their local pantries through simple, consistent monthly neighborhood food drives. We are grateful for the team's support as we share our mission with fans and show just how easy it is to start a neighborhood food drive that makes a real impact."
PORCH Communities is a nonprofit organization that empowers neighborhoods to host local food drives supporting pantries in their own communities.
Volunteers from PORCH Communities will also be on-site with resources and information on how — in as little as three hours a month — you can start or join a PORCH chapter in your neighborhood. Learn more at PORCHCommunities.org

About PORCH: PORCH began in 2010 when founder Christine Cotton discovered her son had been sharing his extra school lunch sandwiches with a classmate who didn't have food each day. Inspired to do more, Christine began organizing neighborhood food collections and quickly saw how powerful a simple, community-based model could be. Today, PORCH supports volunteers nationwide by providing resources, training, and guidance to host monthly food collections — picking up non-perishables directly from porches in the neighborhood to supply local food pantries with most-needed items each month.
