KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's basketball returns home to face Tennessee Tech after winning a late-game thriller against ETSU on Wednesday.

The story of that contest was Memphis transfer Latazia Williamson, who erupted for a career high 20 points. After trailing by 12 in the fourth quarter, the Bucs brought it within one possession multiple times. They went to the foul line with five seconds left and a chance to tie the game but couldn't sink both free throws.

The win was head coach Octavia Blue's 50th with the program.

Fresh off last year's NCAA Tournament appearance, the Golden Eagles have opened up the 2025-26 season with three straight wins, most recently taking down CUSA foe Middle Tennessee, 63-54. Freshman LaReesha Cawthorn led the way, scoring 21 points and grabbing eight boards.

These teams have squared off just once on the hardwood, all the way back in 1989, where the Owls fell 89-65.

Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. on ESPN+.

Tennessee Takeover
Tennessee native Latazia Williamson had a career day for the Owls in their win over ETSU. The junior popped off for 20 points, shattering her previous career high. In the third quarter alone, she posted 10 points including eight unanswered to close out the quarter.

Berry Nice
After being named to the CUSA Preseason Team, graduate guard Keyarah Berry is living up to the hype. She scored a career-high 25 points against FAU, with 21 of those coming in the second half. She is also contributing on the defensive end, recording three steals in three straight games. Berry currently ranks second in CUSA in steals (9) and fourth in scoring (17.3 points per game).

What a Debut
In her first game at KSU, Shania Nichols erupted for 20 points in 19 minutes of action against Shorter. She went 6-of-9 from behind the arc, 7-of-11 from the field overall. Her six three-pointers in the contest are tied for the most by a CUSA player this season.

Lockdown Defense
Effort has been a calling card of the Owls under coach Octavia Blue, and the 2025-26 season has been no different so far. In their first game, KSU held Shorter to 36 points and forced 26 turnovers.  Against FAU, the Black and Gold once again forced more turnovers than they committed. Among CUSA teams, KSU ranks second in scoring defense (56.0), third in steals (29) and fourth in turnover margin (+3.33).
