LOXLEY, Ala. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team finished tied for 10th at the Steelwood Collegiate after Sunday's final round was canceled due to weather at Steelwood Country Club.
"This fall we've shown that when we get contributions from all five guys in the lineup, our team can compete at a very high level," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "We didn't quite find that balance at Steelwood, and the rain cutting short the final round took away an opportunity to finish on a stronger note. There are still plenty of positives to take into the offseason. We've got a clear picture of where we can get better and a lot of encouraging trends to build on."
The teams completed 36 holes on Saturday before heavy rain and lightning forced the tournament to be shortened.
KSU posted rounds of 293-291 for an 8-over-par total of 584 through 36 holes.
Hunter Gillard led the Owls with rounds of 70-72 to finish tied for 11th at 2-under 142. He recorded 10 birdies and 20 pars in the event.
Shaun Cook finished tied for 13th at 1-under 143 with rounds of 72-71 and made 24 pars during the tournament.
"Hunter and Shaun both closed out the fall with some excellent golf, and I know they'll be ready to carry that momentum into the spring," Odom said.
Kyle Bachkosky carded rounds of 74-73 to tie for 41st at 3-over 147, while
Luca Gallingani (77-75) tied for 64th and
Walker Gantt (81-77) tied for 77th.
