ROME, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team defeated West Alabama with a pair of 4-0 scores in a doubleheader inside the Rome Tennis Center Saturday.
Both matches were played to clinch.
Match One
The Owls opened the match winning the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Miolaj Lis and
Hugo Salmeron picked up a 6-1 win on court one. After a Tigers win on court two,
Kyvan Rietkerk and Eric Vladimirov clinched the point with a 6-3 victory. In singles,
Hugo Salmeron defeated Alfonso Portugal 6-2, 6-3 to give the Owls a 2-0 lead. Miolaj Lis secured a 6-4, 6-2 win on court two.
Anthony Weingarten overcame a 4-0 deficit in the second set to clinch the win with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
Match Two
Singles was played first due to time constraints. Freshman Xavier Ferrer got the Owls on the board first with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Vilislav Bonev.
Sam Baldwin downed Federico Iturbe 6-2, 6-3. Freshman
Leo Phijidvijan defeated Caden Goldammer 6-4, 6-2 to pick up his first collegiate win. Freshman
Erik Vladimirov got past Alfonso Portugal 6-1, 6-4 to seal the victory.

The Owls will head to Deland, Fla. to face Stetson on Friday, Jan. 24 at 2 p.m.
