AUBURN, Ala. – Kennesaw State provided individual improvements but stayed steady with another 317 score while remaining in 11th place after round two in the NCAA Auburn Regional.
The tip of the spear for the Black and Gold was
Nyah Kelly as she turned in the best score for the eam with a 77. The sophomore secured three birdies with two of those taking place on the back nine.
Not far behind was
Lara Jecnik as the senior earned a 78, her best score of the regional thus far. She led the Owls with 11 pars to go along with one birdie.
For the first time this season, three Owls ended with the exact same score.
Bella Kil,
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman and
Alessandra Nagayo all ended with a 81 round two score.
Kil still leads the team in overall score with a 157 and currently sitting in 44th place individually.
Campbell-Nyman tied the team lead for birdies with three. She birdied a par three, four and five, the Only Owl to do so.
Nagayo ended with one birdie and is tied with three other Owls with a 159 tournament score (Jecnik, Kelly).
Regional History
KSU was unable to play in their most recent regional in 2021 as the Baton Rouge tournament was canceled. That means the final regional the Owls have competed in was at Saugahatchee Country Club; Opelika, Ala. in 2019.
The Owls shot 905 (+41) as the finished 14th in the 18 team field. The 14th place finished marked the third straight regional finish the Owls have finished in the 14th spot (2015, 2018 & 2019).
2018's NCAA Regional proved to be the Owls' best performances as they finished with an 21-over 885 team score, 13 strokes better than their next closest (2015). To keep up with the latest
