ATLANTA - Graduate senior
Melanie Bennett earned her first career ASUN All-Academic honor, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The pitcher posted a 3.64 GPA with a major in elementary education while also recorded nearly 100 innings in the circle for the Owls this year. It showcases as her 10th overall ASUn accolade over her five seasons.
There have been few players that have left an impression on the softball program like Bennett. She leaves the Owls as the all-time leader in four categories:
- Innings pitched (700.0)
- Complete games (64)
- Games started (97)
- Most games appeared by pitcher (152)
Bennett was creeping up on several other records as she ended second all-time in:
- Strikeouts (597)
- Wins (59)
- Saves (9)
- Shutouts (13)
