ASUN Most Outstanding Athletes

Three Owls Earn ASUN Most Outstanding Performer Awards

KENNESAW, Ga. – Three members of the Kennesaw State track and field programs earned Most Outstanding Performer awards from the ASUN Outdoor Championships that were announced by the conference Friday.
 
Malik Hussie was named Men's Most Outstanding Track Performer. Hussie secured the gold medal in the 4x400m (3:09.57) and silver medals in the 400m (46.38 seconds) and the 4x100m relay (40.01 seconds). He became just the second three-time gold medalist in the 4x400m relay in ASUN history. The senior's time of 46.38 seconds set a school record and ranks 40th in the NCAA East Region this season.
 
Anthony Harrison scored 18 points for KSU at the ASUN Outdoor Championships. Harrison was named Men's Most Outstanding Field Performer. The senior won the discus with a toss of 55.21m (181'2"). He secured the bronze medal in the shot put with a mark of 17.13m (56'2.5"). The Brooklyn, N.Y. native finished seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 50.53m (165'9").
 
Amelia Coker was named Women's Most Outstanding Freshman Performer. Coker won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.31. She finished fourth in the heptathlon with a personal-best total of 4594 points. She took home sixth in the 100m hurdles in a time of 11.31 seconds.       

Nine Owls will compete at NCAA East First Rounds on May 22-25.
