ASUN All-Academic Athletes

Led by Magour’s Scholar Athlete Honor, Seven Owls Earn All-Academic Nods

KENNESAW, Ga. – Five members of the Kennesaw State men's track and field team and two members of the women's track and field team earned spots on the ASUN Outdoor All-Academic Teams that were announced by the conference Friday.
 
Ahmed Magour was named ASUN Men's Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year.
 
Men
 
Ahmed Magour
  • 4.0 GPA | MBA.
  • Competed in javelin in four meets.
  • Finished second at the Georgia Tech Invitational and Jim Green Invitational in the javelin.
  • Won the javelin with a season-best toss of 65.75m (215'8") at the ASUN Championship.
  • That mark established a KSU and ASUN Championship record.
  • It ranks 38th in the NCAA East Region this season.
     
Grant Crabtree
  • 3.89 GPA | Mechanical Engineering.
  • Competed in five meets.
  • Posted outdoor personal-best performances in the 1500m, 10k and 5k.
  • Established a program record with a time of 14:16.09 in the 5k at the Leopard Distance Carnival.
  • Finished sixth in the 10K at the ASUN Championships with a personal-best time of 31:12.39.
 
Caleb Hartley
  • 3.84 GPA | Construction Management.
  • Competed in six meets in shot put and hammer throw.
  • Never finished worse than eighth in shot put or hammer throw.
  • Won the shot put with a toss of 18.14m (59'6.25") and took home sixth in the hammer throw with a season-best toss of 52.68m (172'10") at the ASUN Outdoor Championships.
  • His shot put mark of 18.14m ranks tops in the ASUN and 40th in the NCAA East Region this season.
 
Malik Hussie
  • 3.78 | Sport Management.
  • Competed in six meets.
  • Established a school record in the 400m with a time of 46.38 seconds.
  • That time ranks second in the ASUN and 40th in the NCAA East Region.
  • At the ASUN Outdoor Championships, he secured the gold medal in the 4x400m (3:09.57) and silver medals in the 400m (46.38 seconds) and the 4x100m relay (40.01 seconds).
 
Zachary Peterson
  • 3.75 | MS Intelligent Robotic Systems.
  • Competed in the hammer throw in six meets and never finished worse than fourth.
  • Won the hammer throw at the Jim Green Invitational with a career-best toss of 62.84m (206'2").
  • That toss ranks first in the ASUN and 37th in the NCAA East Region this season.
  • Won the hammer throw at the ASUN Outdoor Championships with a mark of 61.44m (201'7").
WOMEN
Hannah Judge
  • 4.0 GPA | MBA.
  • Competed in the hammer throw in six meets.
  • Did not finish worse than eighth in the hammer throw.
  • Won the hammer throw at the ASUN Outdoor Championships with a personal-best mark of 55.84m (183'2"). 
  • That mark ranked first in the ASUN this season.
     
 
Laysha Tunti
  • 4.0 GPA | Business Info Systems.
  • Competed in five meets.
  • Had personal-best marks in the long jump, 200m and 100m hurdles.
  • Finished third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.42 seconds at the ASUN Outdoor Championships.
  • Ran a personal-best time of 14.31 seconds in the 100m hurdle prelims.
  • That time of 14.31 seconds ranks fourth in the ASUN this season.

Nine Owls will compete at NCAA East First Rounds on May 22-25.
