ATLANTA - Following stellar regular season performances on the court,
Prencis Harden and
Trynce Taylor were named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference Second Team and All-Freshman Team, respectively, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.
Harden led the conference with 10 double-doubles this season, the seventh-most by an Owl in KSU Division I single-season history. The junior finished second in field goal percentage (43.1%) and third in both rebounding (7.81) and defensive rebounds per game (5.00).
She also led KSU in points (377), points per game (14), rebounds (211), steals (36), field goals made (137) and free throw percentage (78.6%). The Swainsboro, Ga. native won ASUN Player of the Week twice this season.
Taylor led the team in shooting percentage (50.6%) in her first campaign at KSU. She posted two double-doubles and led the Owls in rebounding on six occassions, second to Harden. Her 147 rebounds are seventh-most by a freshman in Kennesaw State DI history. She has played in every game for the Owls this season, accruing 221 points.
She becomes the first rookie to win ASUN All-Freshman honors under head coach
Octavia Blue. On March 4, she earned her third ASUN Freshman of the Week honor, joining Owl legend
Amani Johnson as the only two to win at least three ASUN freshman weekly awards at Kennesaw State.
The awards mark the first Atlantic Sun All-Conference honors (pre-or-postseason) for both student-athletes.
No. 8 Kennesaw State begins its final ASUN tournament on Friday, March 8 at 6:00 p.m. against the No. 7 Austin Peay Governors in DeLand, Fla. A victory will match KSU against No. 2 Stetson on Saturday, March 9 at 6:00 p.m. All ASUN tournament games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Owls move to Conference USA on July 1.
