RICHMOND, Ky. - The red hot Kennesaw State Owls (10-18) will take on another team red hot team in the Eastern Kentucky Colonels (20-4), marking the first road game in 20 days.

Series History
It's a brief but promising history for Kennesaw State facing the Colonels six times and taking five victories. Eastern Kentucky came to Bailey Park last season which resulted in an Owls sweep in the three game series.

(Not So) New Kid On The Block
Center fielder Kassidy Amerson-Fox has emerged as one of the best overall on the squad this season. She played in 11 games last year with two starts, both as a DP. The junior has already surpassed her game log last year with 28 games played and 27 starts. She leads the team with a .319 batting average and is currently riding the longest reached-base streak of the season, 12. She also leads the team in total bases (36), slugging (.500) and on-base percentage (.443). She is the only OWl to be in the 400's in OBP.

Brand New Season
Over the last five games, Kennesaw State has been tearing up the stat sheet on both sides of the diamond. Offensively, KSU has changed gears scoring a .304 batting average along with 12 extra base hits to display a .444 slugging percentage. Not only have the bats been cooking, but the pitchers have been as well. Two Owls have earned an ERA below one with Emma Friedel throwing 5.1 scoreless innings and Kenley Hilleary with a 0.71 ERA.

The Big Three
The pitching trio of Lindsey Kyte, Hilleary and Melanie Bennett has been as advertised thus far. Each one has recorded 48 innings or more with a combined 3.42 ERA. The team's staff ERA stands at 3.62 overall. The Owls lead the ASUN in strikeout-to-walk ratio with a 2.30 tally.

Heating Up
After a slower start to the season, Kennesaw State has turned it around the last few games winning four of their last five. It all began with a comeback win over in-state foe in the Mercer Bears. It was the first comeback victory of the season and it has sparked an offensive explosion for KSU. Since the Mercer game, the Owls have won three games and have scored the highest run total of the season with 10 runs versus Stetson.

The Freshman Phenom
Shortstop Ava Guzowski has been terrific in her freshman season. She is coming off perhaps the best single performance this season versus Stetson in game two. Guzowski blasted two home runs, four runs scored and three hits and RBIs. The last time a Owls scored four runs in a game was Missy Perkowski vs. Alabama A&M Feb. 27, 2016. She became the first Owl to knock through two home runs in the same game since Taylor Cates in 2022. Her batting average is currently second on the team and tied for the lead in home runs (2) and RBIs (11).

Pile It On
The Owls have been dangerous in the early innings in their wins. KSU took the victory versus Robert Morris via run rule thanks to an eight run first inning, the highest single inning total of the season. They then put six runs up in the first inning versus Bethune-Cookman, batting around in an inning for the second time this year. KSU scored four run innings in game two versus Stetson and Mercer. They also scored the same run total in the fifth versus TTU.

The midweeks begin back at Bailey Park as the Owls host Georgia Tech Tuesday evening and top ranked University of Georgia Wednesday night.
