Regular Season Finale at Queens Saturday

The Lead

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The road to the 2024 Atlantic Sun Conference tournament reaches its final detour for the Kennesaw State Owls (10-18, 6-9 ASUN) Saturday afternoon against Queens (7-21, 1-14 ASUN) for the regular season finale inside Curry Arena.

KSU defeated the Royals 61-42 on Jan. 6 in the conference opener for both teams. Prencis Harden led the Black and Gold in points (18) and rebounds (14) in the contest while Kailyn Fields tallied six assists.

This is Kennesaw State's final regular season game as a member of the ASUN Conference before moving to Conference USA on July 1.

KSU's seeding in the conference tournament will be determined following Saturday's Atlantic Sun slate. The Owls will begin their run in the event on Friday, March 8.

Carly Hooks
  • The Owls enter their regular season after a duel with UNF on Saturday in double-overtime.
    • Carly Hooks had a career-best 37 points, including 30 in the fourth quarter and both overtimes.
      • She also had a career-high 12 made shots.
    • Harden collected her conference-leading ninth double-double of the 2023-24 campaign with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
    • Taylor Cullinan capped off her impressive Florida road trip with a clutch trey to give the Owls the lead in the first overtime period. She had 12 points off four made treys last week against JU and UNF.
  • KSU leads the ASUN with 13 double-doubles this season.
  • A victory hands Kennesaw State its first win on the road at Queens in program history.
  • Queens enters the weekend after losing to Jacksonville on Feb. 24, 79-66.
    • The Royals have yet to win a conference home game this season.

In Our Blue Era

Coach Blue Extension 2027
  • On Dec. 7, Blue signed a contract extension through the 2026-27 season with KSU.
  • She is the fastest coach in Kennesaw State women's basketball's DI history to 27 wins, shattering the previous mark by 12 games.
  • Since Blue took over in 2021-22, the Owls are tied for the second-most home conference wins of any DI women's basketball program in the state of Georgia (13) - tied with Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern and trailing only Mercer (14).
  • Coach Blue reached 20 home wins on Jan. 6 vs. Queens, taking only 35 games to achieve the feat and passing the previous KSU women's basketball's DI record by four games.
  • The Black and Gold protected the Nest in 2022-23, accruing a 9-4 record inside the friendly confines of the KSU Convocation Center.
  • Last season, KSU WBB doubled its conference win total from five to 10, finishing with a 10-8 record in ASUN play.
  • In her first two seasons at the helm, Coach Blue has secured 24 wins, the second-most by a KSU coach in DI program history in their first two seasons.
  • Of the 14 Owls on the roster, seven are new to the Nest as freshmen or transfers, but for the first time as head coach, Blue's roster is 100% comprised of players brought in by one of her staffs.
