What's Ahead
Tripp MacKay leads the Black and Gold for his sixth season starting off with the Texas State Tournament Friday evening in San Marcos, Texas. The Owls schedule showcases eight new opponents and six 2023 NCAA Division I Regional foes. The Owls are lined up to face three ranked opponents in 2024. The first juggernaut is No. 2 Tennessee marking the home opener at Bailey Park. The next is No. 22 South Carolina March 1 at the UCF Tournament in Orlando, Fla. Lastly are the No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs March 27 at home.

Circle Ownership
Pitchers Melanie Bennett and Kenley Hilleary dominated in the circle in '23 with both posting 120+ strikeouts and a combined 3.62 ERA. Bennett climbed several Owl records last year (innings pitched, complete games & games started). Hilleary burst onto the scene as a freshman showcasing a 3.13 ERA and a .204 opponent batting average. They accounted for all but 19 strikeouts on the squad finishing 2nd in strikeouts in the ASUN behind the defending champions in Central Arkansas.

The Stellar Sophomore
Outfielder Stella Henry impressed in her freshman campaign slashing a .310 batting average along with 45 hits, finishing second on the team. She also finished second in runs (22) and on-base percentage (.367). She was recognized as a 2024 Preseason All-ASUN Team member; her second ASUN collection after earning ASUN all-Conference Second Team in '23.

Creating Series History
It's the first time in the MacKay era that the Owls have played a regular season tournament in which they have never faced any of the opponents. Of the eight new opponents this year, four of them come in the Texas State Tournament (Texas State, UTSA, Northwestern State and Creighton).

On Deck
Following the trip to Texas, the Owls kick start the home slate versus No. 2 Tennessee on Valentine's Day Feb. 14 at 6 p.m.
