Don't Blink
KSU has showcased a unique blend of power and speed. Not only are they among the top in the ASUN in power statistics, but they are also elite on the base paths. The Black and Gold not only lead the league in stolen bases but are 30th in the nation with 29. It's been a team effort with six different Owls recording a stolen base. Leading the charge isÂ
Stella Henry with 10 andÂ
Madison Miller with six, both rank in the top 100 in the NCAA individually.Â
Â
She's Got Wheels
Henry has been blazing on the base paths this year. She has totaled ten stolen bags through 16 games played. She collected 16 stolen bases in 49 games last year. Her ten stolen bases are second in the ASUN and good for 19
th in the NCAA. Henry is only four away from the nation's leader at 14.
Â
Freshman Fire
FreshmanÂ
Emma Friedel pitched a gem, only allowing one hit in five innings of work versus Robert Morris. The hit allowed, was the first batter of the game and was wiped via a double play two pitches later. Friedel joins elite company, the previous one-hitter came this season versus UTSA in a game that went into eight innings. Kyte threw six innings of one-hit ball withÂ
Kenley Hilleary closing it out for the 3-1 win. The last one-hitter from a freshman also came last season fromÂ
Hilleary on March 25 versus EKU in a 2-1 victory.
Â
Putting the Ball in Play
Miller continues to be one of the hardest players in the nation to strike out. Miller is ranked 15
th in the NCAA in "Toughest to Strike Out" with a 45.0 rating. Among Owl players with at least 10 starts, she is the only player to have a perfect fielding percentage.
NCAA Top 10
Melanie Bennett has worked herself into the top 10 among active leaders in several NCAA categories. She is eighth in in complete games with 59, innings pitched with 630.7, Â pitching appearances with 134, and ninth in games started with 89.Â
