Kennesaw State Men and Women Lead After Day One of ASUN Indoor Championships

Gainesville, Fla.- The Kennesaw State men's and women's track and field teams began competition on day one of the ASUN Indoor Championships on Friday.

Men's Heptathlon (Through four events)
   
  • Fick won the 60m in a time of 7.19 seconds.
 
  • Barnett and Jackson tied for second in the high jump.
 
Women's Pentathlon (Completed)
 
  • Amelia Coker secured the bronze medal scoring 3578 points.
   
School Record
    
  • Trey Geter ran a time of 47.67 seconds to establish a new school record in the 400m.
 
  • Kali Terza won the weight throw with a toss of 20.59m (67'6"). That mark established a new ASUN Indoor Championship record, Facility record and school record. 

 
Men's Medal Winners
 
  • Simon Seid secured his second consecutive gold medal in the pole vault. He cleared 5.12m (16'09.50") – tied for third highest in program and ASUN history. He is the first back-to-back champion in the event since Hunter Arnold did it for KSU in 2016-17.
 
  • Seid was joined on the podium by Stephen Smith and AJ Johnson who both cleared 4.92m (16'1.75") and took second and third based on attempts.
 
  • Kaelen Mitchell was victorious in the long jump with a with a leap of 7.33m (24'0.75"). Mitchell became the fourth person in conference history to win the event in back-to-back years.
 
  • Justin Campbell collected the bronze medal with a mark of 7.16m (23'2") in the long jump.
 
  • Anthony Harrison landed a toss of 20.94m (68'8") to win the weight throw. Harrison became the sixth Owl in program history to win the gold medal in the event at the ASUN Indoor Championships.
 
  • Harrison was joined on the podium by teammates Jase Hunter (20.75m | 68'1") and Zachary Peterson (20.13m | 65'11") who took home second and third.
 
  • Chance Cross cleared the bar at 2.01m (6'7") and finished third in the high jump.
 
Women's Medal Winners
   
  • Eriana Sanford landed a toss of 19.37m (63'6") to secure the silver medal behind Terza.
    
  • Rachael Ruff became the fourth different Owl to win the women's pole vault. She cleared  3.72m (12'2.5") to grab the gold medal.
 
  • Chloe Tilton went home with the bronze medal after clearing the bar at 3.62m (11'10.5") in the pole vault. 
 
  Men's Running Event Qualifiers
       
  • Geter (21.45 seconds) and Malik Hussie (21.58 seconds) advanced to the 200m final.
 
 
Women's Running Event Qualifiers
     
  • Kyndall Hudson ran a time of 56.69 seconds in the 400m to advance to the final.
     
  • Wayne will also represent KSU in the 200m final after she posted a time of 24.85 seconds in the prelims.


Next Up
The Owls will begin the final day of competition at the ASUN Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 8:30 a.m.
