KENNESAW, Ga - The Owls travel to Birmingham this Friday for a non-conference matchup against UAB. The women's tennis team is coming off its first win of the season, clinching a 4-3 victory over Alabama State.

Scouting the Blazers
UAB posted a 9-10 overall record from the 2022-23 season. They currently have a 2-6 record this year. The Blazers are coming off a victory over North Alabama, 6-1. They collected their first win of the season by dominating Florida A&M, 6-1. 
 
Series History
Friday's match will be the 13th meeting between the teams. The Blazers lead the all-time series, 10-2 over the Owls. Despite leading the all-time record, Kennesaw State holds a two-game winning streak against UAB. The two teams last met during the 2022-23 season at the Betty Siegel Courts, where KSU won 4-3.

The Owls dominated ASU to win the doubles point. 
Taylor Dean alongside Freshman 
Ema Baraniakova defeated Lizaveta Demchenko/Ena Arnautovic (ASU) 6-0. Following in pursuit was the freshmen duo 
Ivana Gresova and 
Laura Nadaska claiming the 6-0 victory over Timothée Legaud/Carmelle Vial (ALST). Though the doubles point was secured by KSU, 
Izabelle Persson and 
Sophia Unger were up 4-1 against Bea Francesca Acena/Madalena Andrade (ALST) - the match went unfinished.
 
Kennesaw State kept the momentum in the singles competition which boiled down to the final point. The Owls had strong performances in three matches against the Hornets. 
Taylor Dean defeated Lizaveta Demchenko (ALST) 6-0, 7-6 (8-6). Followed by 
Sophia Unger defeating Carmelle Vial (ALST) 6-3, 6-1. The final match point was clinched by 
Sofia Madrid walking away with the 6-4, 7-5 win over Andrada Madalena (ALST).
