Final Results
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team competed at the Wofford Terrier Invite on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Reeves Tennis Center.
"We finished out the fall on a great note," graduate assistant
Taylor Dean said. "The women competed and played well in their matches this weekend. We will get right back to work and be ready once the dual match season begins in January."
The format for the tournament was seven compass singles draws and four doubles draws. On Friday, one doubles and one singles match were played by each team. Two doubles matches and one singles match were played on Saturday, with one singles match on Sunday. Individuals from eight colleges and universities competed in the tournament.
In singles, the Owls had three players reach the finals of their draws.
Ema Baraniakova picked up a pair of wins over players from Mercer and Gardner-Webb in the gold draw before falling in three sets in the final.
Sofia Madrid picked up a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Louise Booker of UNC-Asheville to take third place in the black draw.
Sophia Unger was a perfect 2-0 and won the white flight with a 1-6, 7-5, 10-6 win over Alizee Poulin of Gardner-Webb.
Izabelle Persson won her flight securing three wins including a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 win over Chloe Elliott of Wofford.
In doubles,
Sophia Unger and
Sofia Madrid picked up two wins including a 6-4 win over Grace Agster and Lilly Woods of Wofford to win the backdraw of the gold draw.
Izabelle Persson and
Laura Nadaska won the black draw with a 7-6 (7-5) win over a duo from Presbyterian. Ema and
Terezia Baraniakova finished third in the white draw with a 7-5 win over a duo from Gardner-Webb.
The Owls will return to action in January to begin the dual match portion of the 2024-25 season.
