Morgan Dillard is in her senior year as one of the seven key Kennesaw State women's basketball team veterans. Dillard joined the Owls during their 2023-24 season after transferring in from Southern Miss and played in all 30 games for KSU with 21 starts. The guard is excited for this season at KSU as they begin their first season in Conference USA.
Dillard has always dreamed of playing college basketball ever since she was a child and wanted to follow her brother's path in college athletics.
"Honestly, it has been my dream since I was a little girl to play college basketball," Dillard said. "I had an older brother who played college basketball and played overseas. So, I've always wanted to follow in his footsteps."
After transferring from USM, Dillard is very grateful for all her experiences at KSU and has found a purpose both on and off the basketball court.
"These past two years here at Kennesaw State have been great," Dillard said. "After transferring, honestly, I learned a lot about myself. I found myself after coming here and also found myself off the court and just became a lot happier."
Once she arrived at Kennesaw State, Dillard learned to process everything more slowly. She appreciates all the opportunities she has been given and tries not to take anything for granted.
"I definitely take everything day-by-day," Dillard said. "I try to take no days for granted. Take every day as an opportunity to get better. Those are some of the things I learned from my transfer process."
Dillard feels like time has flown by as she comes into her senior season but is glad to have the experience if her teammates ever need any kind of assistance.
"Being one of the veterans on the team made me feel old, I will not lie," Dillard said. "I feel like I was just a freshman yesterday, but honestly, I feel like I can help my teammates out more, and it feels good to be in this position."
Dillard is looking forward to the rest of the season and continues to be motivated by what her brother put into his basketball career. While she stays motivated and level-headed on the court, her coaches and teammates know her as a quiet and goofy friend.
"My high school coaches and brother really made me who I am today," Dillard said. "Despite that, my coaches and teammates describe me as a quiet and goofy person."
