Since she was young, people have told Prencis Harden that she was meant to play basketball. That is precisely what she has been doing for her four years at Kennesaw State University. Â
Her performance on the court earned her multiple honors in the Atlantic Sun Conference, and she is one of the most must-see women's basketball players in Conference USA as the Owls enter their first season in the league. However, there is more to Harden than just basketball. Â
During her four years at KSU, Harden has learned plenty off the court from her coaches, teammates and herself. Â
"These four years have meant a lot to me," Harden said. "I've learned a lot from the coaches and players and have built great relationships with everyone that I have played with. It's been great."Â Â
Harden is coming off a very successful junior season, during which she averaged 14 points a game, earned multiple Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors and secured a spot on the 2024 All-Atlantic Sun Second Team. Octavia Blue, the head coach of KSU women's basketball, has significantly contributed to Harden's success both on and off the court, helping Harden gain the confidence to become a great player. Â
"Coach Blue helped instill that confidence in me," Harden said. "She's coached me so hard because she knew my potential and kept me motivated."Â Â
Harden always had the tools of a great athlete, but it also helps that she loves basketball and has played for as long as she can remember. Thanks to her abilities, she has another great season looming as the Owls enter their 2024 season.Â
"I have been playing basketball my entire life," Harden said. "It was really my height - the reason why people said I should play basketball - because I was taller. I started in sixth grade, kept going and began to love it."
Harden has built great relationships during her time at KSU, especially in creating nicknames for everyone on the team, but her basketball prowess on the court makes an appearance in her everyday life. Â
"On and off the court, I would say my teammates and coaches describe me as a quiet assassin," Harden said. "There are a lot of different nicknames. Everyone on the team has their own personal nickname."Â
Looking forward to what Harden can improve as a player, she wants to display all the work she has put into this offseason before starting her last ride into college basketball.Â
"I have worked a lot on my confidence," Harden said. "Worked a lot on knowing what I can do personally as a player, I have been in the gym a lot, so just putting out the work that I have put in."Â Â
Kennesaw State begins a five-game road trip Thursday night, Nov. 21 at San Jose State. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.Â
