KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State baseball head coach
Ryan Coe revealed the full 2025 schedule ahead of his fourth season at the helm Wednesday morning, including baseball's return to S. Walter Kelly Sr. Memorial Field in Marietta, Ga.
KSU begins its 41st season of competition at home versus power-four member Rutgers Feb. 14-16, marking the first time since 2019 the Owls opened the season versus a power-five team (West Virginia).
Coming fresh off a 32 win season and a ASUN title appearance, Coe has reloaded the roster with 16 newcomers boldened by three freshman that cracked
Perfect Game's "Top 500 Fresh Arrivals to Campus" in Ty Bayer, Nolan McKinstry and Ethan Osada. The 2024 freshman class was honored by
PG, getting named the top class in Conference USA and the 44th-strongest recruiting class in the nation.
2025 Schedule Highlights:
- Battles five teams that participated in the 2024 NCAA Regionals (DBU, La. Tech, Georgia, Georgia Tech, West Virginia);
- Plays nine squads that secured over 30 wins in the '24 campaign (Samford, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Ga. Southern, Western Kentucky, La. Tech, Sam Houston, Georgia & Dallas Baptist). Four of which ended the season top 50 in RPI;
- Slated to face all six Division-I baseball programs in the Peach State including the return of the rivalry versus the West Georgia Wolves, facing them for the first time in KSU's D-I history;
- Host five series in the team's inaugural season in Conference USA (WKU, Jacksonville State, FIU, New Mexico State & MTSU);
- With the final stages being put on Mickey Dunn Stadium, the Owls will play the duration of the '25 home season at S. Walter Kelly Sr. Memorial Field located on the Marietta Campus.
Notes on S. Walter Kelly Sr. Memorial Field
- Served as a home to Southern Technical Institute (STI) dating back to 1951 while the field was dedicated May 21, 1975 in Kelly's honor;
- S. Walter Kelly (1896-1973), a WWI Navy veteran, was a vital part of brokering the land deal that allowed STI to move to Marietta from its initial location, a repurposed Army base in Chamblee, DeKalb County;
- The field was in use from 1951-2014, ending the '14 season under Southern Polytechnic State University prior to the consolidation of KSU and the move to Stillwell Stadium;
- Sporting recent updates and renovations, it will host 27 home games including duels versus Georgia (2/18) and Georgia Tech (3/25);
- Capacity is listed at 1,200 with season tickets prices set at $50 with seating options located between the 1st and 3rd dugout at the Marietta Campus.
