Owls Collect Nine Victories at ITA Southeast Regionals

ATLANTA, Ga. – T
he Kennesaw State women's tennis team collected nine wins at the ITA Southeast Regionals over the weekend. The nine wins was a program-best for wins at this tournament.
 
"This was a good weekend for the Owls," Director of Tennis Matt Emery said. "We won a lot of matches against very strong competition. The Southeast Regionals is one of the toughest regions in the country, and we were very happy with how the women responded."
 
The Owls got a pair of singles qualifying wins from Sofia Madrid (4-6, 6-2, 10-6) over FAU and Terezia Baraniakova (6-3, 6-2) over Georgia Southern.
 
In the main singles draw, Ema Baraniakova picked up a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win over Florida Atlantic. Terzia Baraniakova took down Ginger Foster of Georgia Tech by a score of 6-0, 6-3 in the round of 64.
 
Izabelle Persson (6-0, 6-4, 10-6), Sophia Unger (6-3, 6-4) and Laura Nadaska (6-4, 6-0) all picked up wins in the consolation side of the singles draw.
 
In doubles, KSU got an 8-5 win by Ema Baraniakova and Sofia Madrid in the Round of 64. Sophia Unger and Isabelle Persson had a bye in the round of 64.

The Kennesaw State women's tennis team will wrap up fall tournament play Nov. 1-3 at the Wofford Fall Invite in Spartanburg, S.C.
