Pair of Home ASUN Contests Up Next for Owls

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State (5-9, 1-0 Atlantic Sun Conference) concludes its three-game homestand with a pair of ASUN Conference games against North Florida (6-10, 0-2 ASUN) and Jacksonville (4-11, 0-2 ASUN) Thursday and Saturday, respectively, inside the KSU Convocation Center.

The Owls enter the matchups following a win in their conference opener vs. Queens at home Saturday where junior Prencis Harden collected her third-consecutive double-double and third in four games en route to a 61-42 victory over the Royals. Freshman Trynce Taylor received her second ASUN Freshman of the Week honor Monday after a 10-point, six-rebound outing.

This is Kennesaw State's final season in the ASUN Conference before moving to Conference USA on July 1.

  • KSU is coming off its first ASUN-opening win since 2016-17 and first back-to-back home conference opening wins since the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.
  • With a win in either game, head coach Octavia Blue will become the fastest KSU WBB head coach to 30 Division I victories, surpassing the mark by at least four games.
    • A victory in either game will also be Blue's 300th as a coach (assistant and head coaching career).
  • Since Blue took over in 2021-22, Kennesaw State is tied for the third-best home conference record in the ASUN at 10-8.
  • The Owls began conference play with the highest average opponent NET ranking of any team in the ASUN (120), 24 spots ahead of the next-closest.
  • In the Blue Era, KSU has the third-most Division I conference wins of any team in the state of Georgia (10), trailing only Georgia Southern (12) and Georgia Tech (11).
  • Entering Thursday, both North Florida and Jacksonville are a combined 0-4 in Atlantic Sun play this season.

In Our Blue Era

Coach Blue Extension 2027
  • On Dec. 7, Blue signed a contract extension through the 2026-27 season with KSU.
  • She is the fastest coach in Kennesaw State women's basketball's DI history to 27 wins, shattering the previous mark by 12 games.
  • Since Blue took over in 2021-22, the Owls have the third-most home conference wins of any DI women's basketball program in the state of Georgia (10), tied with UGA and Mercer - and behind only Georgia Southern (12) and Georgia Tech (11).
  • Coach Blue reached 20 home wins on Jan. 6 vs. Queens, taking only 35 games to achieve the feat and passing the previous KSU women's basketball's DI record by four games.
  • The Black and Gold protected the Nest in 2022-23, accruing a 9-4 record inside the friendly confines of the KSU Convocation Center.
  • Last season, KSU WBB doubled its conference win total from five to 10, finishing with a 10-8 record in ASUN play.
  • In her first two seasons at the helm, Coach Blue has secured 24 wins, the second-most by a KSU coach in DI program history in their first two seasons.
  • Of the 14 Owls on the roster, seven are new to the Nest as freshmen or transfers, but for the first time as head coach, Blue's roster is 100% comprised of players brought in by one of her staffs.
  • The 2023-24 season marks the final year of competition for Kennesaw State in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
