WOLCOTT, Colo. - The Kennesaw State women's golf team stands tied for fourth at the 2023 Golfweek Red Sky Classic after round one action Monday.
The Owls shot 7-over 295 through the first 18 holes to finish ahead of Atlantic Sun foe Central Arkansas in addition to in-state rival Mercer.
Senior
Lara Jecnik paced Kennesaw State with a 2-under 70 score in round one.
LEADING THE TEAM:
Jecnik added to her impressive Owl career Monday, finishing the opening set tied for fifth.
The senior's par-5 scoring average (4.50) led the Owls and tied for sixth among the participants.
SCORECARD:
Graduate Bella Kil followed Jecnik on the scorecard with a 1-under 71 score. She stands tied for 10th entering round two on Tuesday.
She tied the field-lead in par-3 scoring at 2.50. Her 4.00 par-4 scoring average led the Owls.
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman and Alessandra Nagayo posted 5-over 77 rounds and are tied for 51st.
Nagayo's 12 pars on the first 18 holes led the team.
Freshman Sabrina Kim shot 83 on the first 18 at the event.
GOLF CART NOTES:
>> KSU's par-3 scoring average of 3.00 was tied for fourth in the field.
>> Jecnik and Kil tied for third in the field and led the team with five birdies.
NEXT TEE TIME:
Round two action at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic is set for Tuesday, Sept. 26.
