Cook and Borregaard Guide Owls Through 36 Holes at J.T. Poston Invitational

SAPPHIRE, N.C. –
Shaun Cook and Claes Borregaard guided the Kennesaw State men's golf team through the opening 36 holes of the J.T. Poston Invitational at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley on Monday.
 
The Owls are in a tie for 10th after rounds of 283 (-1) and 289 (+5) for a 4-over par total of 572. Drexel leads the 16-team field at 12-under par 557.
 
Cook and Borregaard are tied for 27th overall with an even-par total of 142. Cook carded rounds of 68-74 while Borregaard posted rounds of 72-70. Borregaard made 30 pars and three birdies on Monday. He has now shot par or better in nine of his last 11 rounds dating back to last season. Cook rolled in 21 pars and eight birdies during the first 36 holes.
 
Hunter Gillard is just one shot behind Cook and Borregaard. The freshman shot rounds of 71-72 and is at 1-over par 143 through 36 holes. Gillard made his first eagle as an Owl during the second round.
 
Hugo Lari shot 72-73 and is tied for 45th at 3-over par 145.
 
Kyle Bachkosky (73-79) is tied for 92nd at 10-over par 152.
 
The final round of the J.T. Poston Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 26. KSU will be paired with Elon, Wofford and Appalachian State. Everybody will tee off at 9:30 a.m. after a shotgun start.
