Sullivan and Mines Pace Owls at Roy Griak Invitational

Men's Results | Women's Results 

ST. PAUL, Minn. –
21 members of the Kennesaw State cross country team competed at the Roy Griak Invitational on the Les Bolstad Golf Course Friday. 

The women placed 11th picking up a pair of Power Five wins over Miami and Cincinnati. The men took home 18th place. 

  

Emma Sullivan paced the women in the 6k, posting a time of 21:57.0 to finish 29th. Anna James (22:28.6) and Zoe Smith (22:31.0) were the next pair of Owls to cross the finish line in 59th and 61st, respectively. Natalie Cummings ran a time of 22:47.1 to place 72nd. Ciara Miles closed the scoring for the Owls with a time of 22;53.9, placing 75th. 

Sophomore Joseph Mines led KSU in the men's 8k race. Mines recorded a time of 26:55.8 to place 130th. He was followed closely by Joseph Pontrelli who took home 138th in a time of 27:17.8. Freshman Dillon Berger posted a time of 27:25.8 in his first collegiate 6k race and finished 142nd. Freshmen Ryan Hoppenfeld (28:40.5) and Matthew Hall (29:07.3) rounded out the scoring for the Owls placing 166th and 169th, respectively. 

KSU Team Notes 
- The women's team was ranked No. 14 in the 2023 NCAA DI Women's Cross Country South Regional Rankings, the USTFCCCA announced Monday. 
 
-  Sullivan and Mines were KSU's top performers in a meet for the first time this season.  
 
- Emma Ferguson, Faith Bobak and Matthew Hall and Joseph Pontrelli made their season debuts on Friday. 
 
Next Up 
The Owls will travel to College Station, Tex. for the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday, Oct. 13.
