Bowling Green, Fla. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team sits in second place after round one of the Allstate Streamsong Invitational on Monday.
The tournament is being played at the Streamsong Black Course which is a par 73. This is the Owls first time playing in an event with a par of 73 in Division I program history.
KSU carded a 15-under par round of 277 on Monday. Lipscomb leads the 12-team field at 16-under par 276.
"We couldn't ask for a better start to the season with a program record round," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "The team has been posting similar scores during qualifying and now we know it's real. I'm excited for the next few days here at Streamsong as we look to keep the pedal down."
Sophomore
Shaun Cook carded a 7-under par 66 and is tied for the lead. He rolled in eight birdies and nine pars on Monday. He closed his opening round with five birdies on the final seven holes.
Kyle Bachkosky posted a score of 6-under par 67 in his KSU debut. The Peachtree City native made an eagle and six birdies to go along with nine pars during the round and is tied for third.
Claes Borregaard continued his solid play from the spring with a 2-under par 71. The junior was 1-under par on his final six holes. He has now recorded an under-par round in six of his last seven rounds dating back to last season.
Hugo Lari and
Hunter Gillard each shot even-par rounds of 73 and are tied for 26th. Gillard made his KSU debut on Monday.
