Hugo Lari and
Evan Thompson were named All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday.
To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Borregaard carries a 3.77 GPA in sociology. He played in all 11 events and led the team with a 73.12 scoring average. He recorded 15 rounds at par or better and was the Owls' top finisher six times this season. He tied for seventh at the Pinetree Intercollegiate at 3-over 219. The Smorum, Denmark native posted his best finish at the ASUN Championship where he carded rounds of 69-69-64 for 14-under par total of 202 finishing tied for fifth. He earned All-Tournament honors for his performance.
Lari holds a 3.70 GPA in management. He finished second on the team with a 73.58 scoring average in 11 events. He played 12 of his rounds at par or better and was the Owls' top finisher in four events last season. He posted three top 25 finishes at the J.T. Poston Invitational, Carolina Cup and the Grandover Collegiate. His season-best performance came at the J.T. Poston Invitational where he carded rounds of 70-70-74 for a 1-over par total of 214.
Thompson finished with a 3.66 GPA while finishing his Master of Business Administration. On the course, he played in all 11 events posting a 75.33 scoring average. He recorded six rounds at par or better including his season-low round of 4-under 68 at the ASUN Championship. In his final tournament as an Owl, he posted rounds of 72-70-68 for a 6-under par total of 210 to finish tied for 21st at the ASUN Championships. His score helped the Owls break the 54-hole scoring record on a par-72 course.
Eguchi has a 3.66 GPA in interdisciplinary studies. Eguchi played in eight events and posted a 75.29 scoring average. He posted six rounds at par or better. His season-best performance came at the ASUN Championship where he fired rounds of 72-70-73 for a 1-under par total of 215 and a tie for 40
th.
The four selections mark the 14th consecutive year that at least one Owl has been honored with this award.
