Former Owl and current assistant coach
Daniel Haugh will compete in the qualification round of the hammer throw at the 2023 World Athletics Championships on Saturday, August 19 at 6:00 AM ET. Haugh will compete in a field of 35 athletes in the qualifying round. To advance to the final, he will need to hit 77.00m or finish in the top 12 overall. The final is set for Sunday, August 20 at 11:45 a.m. ET. The World Championships will be broadcast (NBC/CNBC) and streamed (NBC Sports/Peacock).
NEWS AND NOTES
» Haugh qualified for the World Championships by winning the silver medal in the hammer throw with aa season-best toss of 77.24m (253'5") at the USATF Championships.
» Haugh won the hammer throw with a toss of 77.11m (253'0") in a meet in Tampere, Finland on August 8.
» He won the National Championship in the hammer throw in 2019 as an Owl. He competed at the 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 U.S. Championships, 2019 and 2022 World Championships and the 2020 Olympics.
