KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior
Sarah Hendrick was named to the CSC Academic All-America first team Wednesday, marking the first Owl in program history to earn a CSC All-America first team academic honor.
Hendrick began the 2022-23 season on the cross-country course, where she posted career-best performances in the 5k and 6k and was the Owls' top finisher at the NCAA South Regional. She placed 14th at the ASUN Championship earning ASUN Second Team All-Conference honors.
During the indoor season, the Kennesaw native won the 800m at the Bob Pollock Meet with a time of 2:03.51 and finished sixth in the mile.
She was victorious in the 800m with a time of 2:02.00 at the BU Scarlet and White Invite. This time ranked No.5 in the NCAA this season. Hendrick was also on the Owls DMR team that ran 11:05.14 to set a school record at this event.
In February, Hendrick won the Music City Challenge in Nashville when she posted a time of 2:02.92 in the 800m.
At the ASUN Indoor Championships, Hendrick won a gold medal in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:41.99 and was on the KSU DMR team that won gold with a time of 11:36.67. It marked KSU's first win in the DMR in program history.
On the national level, Hendrick finished fifth in the 800m at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 2:03.21.
During the outdoor season, the senior finished sixth at the Bryan Clay Invitational in the 800m with a time of 2:01.93. This time ranked No. 3 in school history, No. 1 in the ASUN, No. 5 in the NCAA East Region and No. 8 in the NCAA for this season.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Hendrick ran a personal-best time of 4:15.71 in the 1500m to take 25th. This time ranked first in program history, No. 25 in the NCAA East Region and No. 54 in the NCAA this season.
Hendrick won the 800m (2:05.78), 1500m (4:18.40) and the 4x400m relay (3:43.54) at the ASUN Outdoor Championships in May. Her time of 2:05.78 was the second-fastest time in meet history.
She also joined Jacksonville's Bienna Freeman (2011-13) as the only three-time event winners in the 800m. Her time of 4:18.40 was No. 2 in ASUN Championship history.
At the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Hendrick finished 13
th in the 800m with a time of 2:03.37 to earn first team All-American honors.
Hendrick was a strong student in the classroom and holds a 3.88 GPA while pursuing a degree in psychology. She graduated with a degree in nursing in December of 2022 and has been named to ASUN Cross Country and ASUN Indoor and Outdoor All-Academic teams this year.
