KENNESAW, Ga. - For college athletes across the country, it can be extremely difficult to find a balance between sports, academics and maintaining a social life. Although this balance is difficult, Amulika Gottiparthy has another thing on her plate, running a non-profit organization.

Gottiparthy is a junior at Kennesaw State and a member of the women's tennis team, and through her organization she not only serves on the court but also serves the community through HUSH, which is dedicated to helping homeless communities across the country. The organization's mission is to provide three essentials: food, shelter, and clothing to those in need. Amulika's passion for helping people motivated her to start this organization when she was just in high school.

"There are so many people around the world not getting the things that they need. I want to be the one to help people," Gottiparthy said.

HUSH is a helping hand in the community, most recently serving meals to over 30 families in need in the Augusta area and has also orchestrated events in other countries such as India. Gottiparthy describes having an international mindset with this organization and plans to expand even further internationally into Europe.

Although HUSH is an organization based on serving others, Gottiparthy  touched on how her organization has impacted her personally.

"It feels great, I've always aspired to help people. When I get to make others happy, I want to do more," she said.

As Gottiparthy gets closer to graduating, she has firm intentions on growing her organization even more and impacting numerous communities across the world. Through her servant leadership, Gottiparthy embodies what it means to be a student-athlete at KSU, more than a winner on the court but a winner in the classroom and the community.
