Women’s Tennis Soars Past EKU in Regular Season Finale

ROME, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team finished their last regular season match securing a 6-1 victory against Eastern Kentucky Saturday Afternoon. The Owls will continue their journey to the ASUN championship with a four match win streak and look to build the momentum.
 
How it Happened
"This was another solid performance from the ladies today," said KSU Director of Tennis Matt Emery.
 
The Owls quickly set the tone, dominating the Colonials early, gaining the doubles point. Kennesaw State kept the advantage going into the singles matches securing 5 singles points.
 
Ji Youn Lee collected the first singles point defeating Sasha Parkhomenko 6-0, 6-1. Izabelle Persson followed in pursuit giving the owls a 2-1 lead after taking down Mariia Triska 6-1, 6-1. Sofia Madrid handled business on court three commanding Elena Tairyan 6-4, 6-0. The fifth point came from Sophia Pinedo securing a 6-3, 8-6 victory against Emmeline Polevoi.
 
Sophia Unger clinched the final point for Kennesaw State defeating Daniela Hernandez 6-4, 5-7,10-8.
 
"I also want to thank our seniors, Ji and Sofia, for everything they have done for our program. They both have helped elevate the program to levels we had not even approached in the past.  I'll be forever grateful for everything they have given KSU these past four years."

Next Up  
The Owls will begin their journey to the ASUN Championship. The tournament is set to begin Apr. 15 and will conclude on Apr. 22 at the UNF Tennis Complex. The first and second rounds will be hosted at campus sites, based on seeding.
