KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State softball dropped its series finale to Lipscomb by a score of 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Bailey Park. The loss drops the Owls to 15-30 (7-11 ASUN Conference), while the Bisons improve to 18-26 (6-12 ASUN).

After this weekend's results, KSU leads the all-time series with Lipscomb by a record of 26-22.

Kenley Hilleary made her 16th start on the mound and tossed the first four innings. The freshman allowed one run on three hits while striking out five to earn the no-decision.

Melanie Bennett (8-11) entered in the fifth and threw the final three innings. The right-hander surrendered one run on three hits with one punch out.

Offensively, KSU collected seven hits and were led by Ty Hardeman, Stacy Deputy and Stella Henry who each finished with multi-hit games.

Deputy ended the afternoon 2-for-3 to collect her fifth multi-hit game of the year. Hardeman also finished 2-for-3 and scored the Owls only run in the contest.

Henry put together a 2-for-3 afternoon which included a sac bunt.

Bella Galloway also added a base hit in a 1-for-3 performance.

Lipscomb scratched one run across in the third to take the early lead.

KSU tied the score on a Bisons throwing error in the fifth. Hardeman led off the inning with her second knock of the day and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Taylor Cates hit a ground ball to the pitcher that was thrown away and allowed Hardeman to score.

With one out in the seventh, a Lipscomb double scored the go-ahead run to put the Bisons up, 2-1, which held as the final.

Kennesaw State softball is back in action this Wednesday for a midweek matchup at Samford. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (ET) in Birmingham. Earlier this year, the Owls defeated the Bulldogs, 1-0, in a game that took nine innings inside Bailey Park.
