HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A strong second round at the RTJ at Hampton Cove has the Kennesaw State women's golf team in third place at the 2023 ASUN Women's Golf Championship.
The Owls carded 11-over 299 in round two adding up to a 31-over 607 overall score.
KSU is well within striking distance at only four strokes behind first place FGCU. The team is three strokes behind second-place Central Arkansas.
LEADING THE TEAM:
Leading the Owls and tied for fifth in the tournament is senior Bella Kil. Kil carded a 3-over 75 Monday to tally a 5-over 149 tournament score.
Her par-3 scoring average is tied for the field-lead at 2.88. She has posted a 4.10 par-4 scoring average that is tied for fourth.
Kil has recorded 24 pars through 36 holes, tied for seventh in the field and leading KSU. She also leads the team with five birdies.
SCORECARD:
Meva Schmit follows right behind Kil tied for eighth. She posted a 1-over 73 round two and her two-round score stands at 6-over 150.
Junior Lara Jecnik shot 5-over 77 Monday. She finished round two tied for 30th.
Nyah Kelly ended the second round with a 13-over 157 score and tied for 35th.
Kelly leads the Owls with a 5.00 par-5 scoring average.
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman got started in the ASUN Championship during Monday's second round and shot 2-over 74.
GOLF CART NOTES:
>> Kennesaw State leads the field with a 4.21 par-4 scoring average.
>> The Owls' 104 pars are third-most in the field through the first two rounds.
>> KSU has 21 birdies after Monday's action, fourth-most in the tournament.

The final round of the 2023 ASUN Women's Golf Championship is set for Tuesday, Apr. 18.
