4/16/2023 9:48:00 PM

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team fell to FGCU 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the ASUN Championship on Sunday Afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

How it Happened
"Congrats to FGCU, they deserved the win today. The women left it all out there, and we put ourselves in a position to win there at the end," said KSU Director of Tennis Matt Emery. "FGCU just executed a little bit better under pressure there to close."

The Eagles started off strong, dominating the doubles point over the Owls. Sofia Pinedo/Sofia Madrid went unfinished due to FGCU securing the doubles point.

In singles play, FGCU won three-straight points to clinch the victory over Kennesaw State. Sofia Madrid had a strong performance over Isabella Colmenares, defeating her 6-0, 6-0.

"Again, a huge thanks to our seniors, Ji and Sofia. Their class put KSU Women's Tennis on the map nationally for the first time ever, and their impact on our program will be remembered forever."
